The Lubell Labs LL1424HP is a portable Underwater Acoustic Transducer (UAT) designed for use in Underwater Acoustic Deterrent Systems (uADS), Diver Deterrent Systems (DDS), Acoustic Sub-Bottom Profiling (SBP) systems, and general military and scientific applications.
The Lubell Labs LL1424HP has a useful frequency range of 200 Hz - 9 kHz, a maximum SPL of 196 dB/uPa/m @ 600 Hz, and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms (varies with frequency - see US Navy Z plot or tabular data). The LL-1424HP is intended for portable use in rivers, lake, and ocean by virtue of it's rugged PPG epoxy finish and protective cage.
The Lubell Labs LL1424HP is fitted with a Subconn MCBH3MAS underwater mateable bulkhead connector, and includes a mating 100 foot (30.48 m) Subconn SOOW cable terminated with a Speakon NL4FC connector for connection to included Lubell LL1424HP transformer box.
The included AC1424HP transformer box connects between the LL1424HP transducer and an approved amplifier (not included). The AC1424HP transformer box integrates a 1:1 toroid isolation transformer (electrically isolates metal transducer shell from amplifier / ground) and 2 ohms of series resistance (flattens response and reduces current at higher frequencies).
For general research applications, Lubell Labs recommends driving the LL1424HP / AC1424HP from one channel of a Crown XLi800 (300 WPC @ 4 ohms = 34.64 Vrms), which produces a remarkable sound level of 188.75 dB/uPa/m at the LL1424HP's 600 Hz resonant frequency. Using the XLi800 also lessens the risk of exceeding the LL1424HP's 10A continuous current rating, by limiting the maximum current to 11.75A @ 3.9 kHz at 34.64 Vrms drive.
